Where do you go to my lovely?!

I must apologize for the long gap in posts, when I set up this blog the intention was to post regular updates

However, with the CILIP restructure, I have taken on more duties (like many fellow library types) and I've found it difficult to actually get around to telling you what I've been doing and where I have been.
I've found that Twitter is a better way of keeping in touch on the go @CILIPinWales and @Minimorticia

I am due to go on maternity leave this week, coming back in March 2013.
CILIP have appointed a cover person, who you can reach via Wales@cilip.org.uk and on 07837 032 536

I've also updated the list of CILIP Cymru Wales Committee members on our WebPages.

The 2012 CILIP in Wales Conference - leadership, was a success and you can look at some of the sessions here.

Out and about

Since the last blog post I've been out and about again on behalf of CILIP in Wales, this is a good thing, but it leaves little time to write it up and more importantly, reflect.

Abergavenny Library and Macmillian Cancer Support

This morning I had a meeting in Abergavenny Library with Ann Jones, Head of Libraries, Museums and The Arts, Monmouthshire. The library was buzzing with people (and filled with cake!) because staff have teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support to hold a coffee morning and advice sessions. You can find out more about the partnership between Monmouthshire and Macmillan.

CILIP AGM 2011

Last week (Thursday 22nd September 2011) I attended the CILIP AGM at Ridgmount Street, London.
Annie Mauger, CILIP Chief Executive welcomed us and Chair of CILIP Council, Isabel Hood chaired the event.
The whole thing was live streamed for people to watch via video link (so people didn't have to travel to London to take part). There was also lively chat throughout via the Twitter hastag #cilipagm11

Issues discussed and debated included Membership subscription rates
Annie Mauger gave a presentation showing how Defining Our Professional Future has guided the work of CILIP.

What does CILIP do in Wales?

Hello and Welcome.

My name is Mandy Powell, I work for CILIP in Wales, which means that I am based in Wales and work with the CILIP Cymru Wales Committee and my colleagues in CILIP, to help support library and information staff and promote and develop the profession in Wales.

As there is only one of me and the Committee is made up of hardworking library types with library jobs, keeping in touch with everyone can get tricky...and that's where the blog comes in. I'm going to use this blog to help keep people up to date with what CILIP is doing in and for Wales. I will also be posting links to websites and articles that I think are of interest.
If you have any comments or ideas, I'd love to hear them, so please get in touch.

I travel all over Wales, so feel free to invite me to your library, I may even bring cake.

You can follow me on Twitter @Minimorticia, be warned, I don't just tweet about libraries, but if you want to see pictures of my dog and read my thoughts on Star Wars...and why wouldn’t you(?) then join in!
